A Journey Within

‘A Journey Within’ is a limited collection inspired by a trip to the Peak District. I don’t usually like sharing the meaning behind my work (I prefer art to be open to interpretation) but this visit particularly made an impact. We explored caverns set in the most spectacular Derbyshire countryside. The rocky, earthy and textured palette is a contrast to my previous more vibrant works. They capture the essence of the various rock formations and structure of the vast cavern chambers. The life stories of the people who were born, lived, worked and died in the caverns are unfathomable. This collection serves in some way as an homage to their remarkable lives. Personally, the artworks act as a reminder of the power of nature, its connection to us and how we as humans are a small part of something much greater than ourselves. Creating this collection definitely took me on a journey inward, giving me much-needed space for reflection. I will forever be grateful for the lessons it taught me.
